five things meme
It's been a while since I've done anything like this, so, courtesy of [personal profile] raven, a meme that looks like fun.

You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in comments. (examples: "Five Dates X Regretted Going On," or "Five Fannish Gatherings that Y Attended"). I'll answer with a list of five things.

Any fandom I've written for or blithered about here is fair game :-).

ETA: these are going slowly because I think of two things for a list and then life happens and I lose my train of thought. But so far we have:

five times Duv Galeni was still David Galen

five times Lesley May didn't think about her face

five times Lady Alys changed Barrayar at a party

five times Cordelia was proud of Miles

five times Ges and Aral should have broken up, but didn't

five reasons Lady Alys envies Professora Vorthys

five holocubes Theisman kept

five things Theisman and LePic did for the Republic

five times Cordelia said 'Barrayarans!'

Cordelia can do five rounds of 'Barrayarans!' in a single day ;-)

1. At breakfast, when their usual maid was absent. Cordelia inquired, and was told that she was in disgrace, having been caught kissing an under-footman in the shrubbery. The under-footman had not been punished. Cordelia gave them both a lecture on appropriate behaviour in the workplace and a lot of frank advice about contraception. ('Betans!' the maid said afterwards, when she was very sure nobody could hear her.)

2. On witnessing an elderly groundcar emitting clouds of toxic smoke and being told that there were no regulations governing the atmospheric dumping of waste gases. She was planning to write a memo for Aral to forward to the relevant minister, when...

3. ...Captain Illyan came in to remind her, very politely, that security protocols required her to take either an ImpSec escort or an Armsman when she went out. Cordelia informed him that it was he, not 'security protocols', who was imposing this requirement, but consented to bear it in mind next time.

4. On being told that the witty, well-read and thoughtful Vorish daughter she met at tea with Alys was not intending to go to university because she was already betrothed.

5. Fondly, to Aral, as they swapped stories of their days over supper and he complained about the difficulties of persuading the Council of Counts to do anything productive and how much easier war was than politics.
